This float was entered in The Tournament of Roses Parade at Pasadena January 1, 1957 by the Odd Fellows and Rebekahs of California. Contributions to the Float Fund from New Jersey, New York, Florida, Michigan and Illinois were also received and appreciated. The float was decorated with 150,000 chrysanthemum blossoms, 4,000 yellow and red roses, 3,000 vanta orchids, and 2,000 stock blossoms as well as silver leaf, pampas grass, tea leaves and crotan leaves. It required 1,000 hours of donated labor by the Odd Fellows, Rebekahs, Junior Odd Fellows and Theta Rho Girls to place these flowers on the float. Naturally, the volunteers were from the area surrounding Pasadena except for the Grand Master and his wife who spent two days working on the float and our President of the Rebekah Assembly took time out also to come and help us. The members of the Order in California are also appreciative of the members in other jurisdictions who took the time to write letters of praise and encouragement after having seen the parade on TV.
Our Past Sovereign Grand Master Anglea stated in a letter to the committee, "The value in publicity cannot be measured in dollars and cents as there is no way of knowing the great good it brought Odd Fellowship."
